About This Title

The latest Jack Flanders adventure, and it certainly is different. Jack dies and goes to Heaven. While exploring the various levels of Heaven, he decides to visit Hell. And he does this while riding on his childhood bicycle, a classic Schwinn Cruiser. Along the way, he meets a talking dog, and few old friends who show him the heavenly sights.

While touring Hell, or what the locals call, the slums of heaven, Jack encounters a Demon who insists he pay for his sins. “What sins?” Jack naively asks. The Demon unrolls a 12 foot scroll while announcing, “Herein we have the endless indiscretions of Jonathan L. Flanders!” And then the Demon whispers, “I’ve been waiting for you for a long, long time.”

Were you ever curious about what happens on The Other Side? We don’t have all the answers, but we do have some juicy ones. 1 hour.

This is an absolutely beautiful little gem—for such a funny, entertaining piece, it also touches on profound philosophical and spiritual concepts—Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Muslim—doesn’t matter, it’s sensitive, humanist, universal(ist) and fun. Yeah, maybe some hardcore fundamentalists of any stripe might take issue, i.e., if they were inclined to listen, but if so, what are they doing listening to Jack Flanders? This is the Jack I remember from 70s and 80s, and one that I’ve missed lately. (Tiffany Blue is also fine.)

A pleasant ride through some levels of heaven with our friend Jack Flanders.

I wouldn’t mind another visit or two or three. I miss the original Little Frieda, but I guess I’ll just have to let her go, and enjoy the memories (luckily, available in several formats).

I didn’t actually notice, as one reviewer did, a hard line progressive liberal message, but then I’m not a sensitive conservative. There was a a hint of Christian ideology, but I try to keep an open mind about such things, and not get in a snit when an artist doesn’t share my world view!
